Efrain Juan (EJ) Vazquez – MMA Coach and Personal Trainer

Personal Trainer – Hello, I am Coach EJ, head coach and owner of Invictus MMA and Fitness. My fitness journey began with martial arts. Although I played basketball, football and volleyball throughout my childhood and teens, I was always more interested in becoming a ninja. My father enrolled me in Hapkido when I was 6 years old, I then trained Choy Le Fut at 13 and ultimately found MMA at 17. This is when I decided I wanted to fight professionally. I had just lost my mother to breast cancer and had to move out of my childhood home in Chicago to the suburbs. I told my father I wanted to fight and he found my coaches, the Hill Brothers, who would change my life forever. Not only did they nurture my passion for martial arts, they mentored me and gave me direction during a time where I felt lost. Because of them, I was able to compete across the U.S, Russia, China and Japan. I ultimately decided to walk away from fighting in 2017 and chose to pursue training and coaching others full-time. I firmly believe in leading by example so I am always on the mats with my students sparring and rolling as well as pushing myself in my own training so I can make sure to continuously challenge my students and clients to become the best version of themselves. I believe it is my purpose to do what my coaches did for me and pass on the knowledge I have gained to as many people that want to learn so that they can experience true confidence in body, mind and spirit.Whether you have the desire to compete or want to get in the best shape of your life while gaining the ability to protect yourself and your loved ones, I welcome you to join my team. Lets work together to unlock the unconquerable you!

I am a CSCS strength and conditioning specialist, personal trainer certified through NASM, PPSC pain free performance specialist, and Level 1 USA weightlifting. With 3 years experience, I had the opportunity to work with youth athletes, post physical therapy rehab patients, and the general population. All including advanced or little to no experience in the gym. With 15 years of experience within the gymnastics, dance, and cheer world I offer a very unique skill set by incorporating strength training to enhance their performance and decrease risk of injury.Building a foundation and learning how to properly move through major movement patterns is a strength of mine that my clients get to carry with them forever. Prior injury should not discourage you to avoid exercise, if anything it should encourage you to make it a priority. A strong foundation to your training will allow for incredible success in your fitness journey. Our day to day life is very dependent on our physical and mental strengths and capabilities. Strength training allows our options to be endless. We learn to push through discomfort, do things we’ve never done before, lift weight that one can never imagine lifting, and end up relying on physical activity to be the biggest stress reliever there is.As your trainer, my mission is to improve your quality of life through moving your body, eating healthier, managing stress, improving sleep quality, and most importantly training for longevity and a happy healthy life.Individual or partner based sessions are carefully programmed to tailor training experience, goals, and interests. Sessions may include Strength, Conditioning, and or Mobility practice.Fun Facts: I truly love all forms of exercise, but strength training will always be number one. Outside of the gym, I am a huge foodie and love coffee. When I'm not in the gym, I am home with my cat, Jackson.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
